Salomon XT-Pathway belongs to the lifestyle category, although it’s more of a hybrid – a silhouette that can be used on the street as well as for light outdoor walks and unpaved paths, thanks to its trail background.

History: heir to the iconic XT series

The XT family originated from the XT Wings model, developed by Patrick Leick for Salomon as part of a service program for elite trail runners. This gradually evolved into the XT-4 and XT-5 models, culminating in 2013 with the most famous member of the family – the XT-6, designed by the Salomon S/LAB team under the guidance of designer Benjamin Grenet for elite athletes like Kilian Jornet and François D'haene.

Around 2020-2021, young Parisians began wearing old trail XT-6s from their fathers as a fashion piece – and this cultural shift from the mountains to the streets transformed the trail shoe into a fashion icon. The XT-Pathway is a direct continuation of this story: a shoe that visually and technologically draws from the DNA of the XT-6, but unlike purely lifestyle silhouettes, it retains real technical parameters for use off the asphalt.

Technology: agileCHASSIS, SensiFit, and Quicklace

The XT-Pathway incorporates key elements from the performance trail series without changing their function, ensuring real usability even outside the city:

• agileCHASSIS (ACS): A stabilizing structure that works with the EnergyCell midsole – provides support and cushioning on unpaved terrain, while ensuring a comfortable and stable step throughout the day in the city.
• SensiFit and Quicklace: A combination of a snug-fitting system around the foot and fast lacing directly from trail models – the shoe holds the foot securely without the need for traditional tying, which you'll appreciate both on the sidewalk and on the trail.
• OrthoLite® insole: The die-cut insole offers superior cushioning, breathability, and durability for all-day wear and longer hikes.
• Chevron outsole pattern: Deep, multidirectional lugs borrowed from trail shoes – they perform well on wet pavement in the city as well as on mud or loose terrain.
• Gore-Tex version: For selected models, the Gore-Tex membrane ensures waterproofing while maintaining breathability – an advantage in both rain in the city and on damp trails.
